Camellia Mule - Tea Cocktail

Camellia Mule Cocktail, alcoholic tea liqueur, tea cocktail, recipe

We always remember our first time…. And that can also be said of a Camellia Mule. Mine was not so romantic, recovering from a festival, too tired to work. Instead I took inspiration from scrolling through my Instagram feed. Luckily my local shop stocks a decent ginger beer and Amazon Prime delivers copper mugs. It’s an instant online culture I’m afraid and the simplicity and snappy refreshing nature of this cocktail may well be my new addiction.

What is a Camellia Mule - Tea Cocktail?

A Camellia Mule is is our take on the infamous Moscow Mule cocktail and contrary to it’s name it’s actually American! It’s a very simple cocktail that doesn’t require shaking or an extensive array of specialist bar tools. Yet it’s packed full of flavours, bubbles, spice and ginger is the perfect partner to tea. And when using the copper mug, which is the de rigueur vessel for a Camellia Mule, it’s a bit of a show stopper too.

Using plenty of ice will keep the drink cooler, crisper and fizzier for longer but don’t go cheap on the ginger beer. The spice is delivered by the ginger beer which makes it an important ingredient and some ginger beers are less spicy and sweet. This effects the overall snappy, refreshing and invigorating nature of a Camellia Mule, which needs preserving for generations to come!

  • 60ml Camellia Black Tea Liqueur
  • 15ml Lime juice
  • 180ml Ginger Beer
  • Plenty of ice
  • Peach slices
  • Sprig of fresh mint/lime wheel to garnish

  • Glass - Copper Mug. Copper is a great thermal conductor so the mug cools down instantaneously, offering a chilling sensation with every sip. Best of all, the copper handle insulates the heat from your hand keeping the Camellia Mule cold and frosty while enhancing the tea flavour and tickling your senses when drinking.
  • Jigger - Bartending tool/dual ended cup for measuring spirits that is normally dual ended (50ml/25ml)

Fill the copper mug 3/4 full with ice and pour over the Camellia Black Tea Liqueur, lime juice, ginger beer and gently stir. Add peach slices/ fresh mint to taste and garnish with a lime wheel.
